Reaffirming his distinguished academic and educational role, as well as his volunteer initiatives, the Advanced Simulation Center hosted, last Sunday, May 3, 2026, an intensive training workshop titled “Basic Suturing Techniques.”

The workshop was delivered by the Consultant of Plastic Surgery and Canadian Fellowship holder in the specialty, Dr. Wassam Minissi.

It targeted internship doctors of the 12th cohort of the Medicine Program.

Key highlights of the workshop included:

Theoretical component: A review of different types of surgical sutures and their various applications according to tissue type.

Practical training: Hands-on practice for doctors on different suturing techniques to ensure optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Transfer of expertise: Benefiting from Dr. Wassam Al-Arida’s extensive experience, as he is an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University and Head of the Plastic Surgery Department at Charles M. Hospital in Canada.

This workshop is part of the efforts of the Medicine Program and the university to enhance graduates’ competencies and prepare them for clinical practice according to the highest international standards, under the supervision of a distinguished group of international and local experts.

Special thanks to Dr. Wassam Minissi for his time and efforts in supporting the next generation of physicians
